Cables work under constant tension with the spring system — 5 Star Garage Door Service checks the full assembly, not just the visible fray point.
Every Upper Sandusky, OH technician dispatched for Garage Door Cable Repair carries the specific tools and parts this job requires, not a generic all-purpose kit.
This specialization is why Upper Sandusky, OH customers call us back for the same issue instead of shopping around each time.
We check both cables and both drums together, since wear rarely happens in isolation.
Galvanized aircraft cable resists fraying far longer than standard cable in humid Upper Sandusky, OH conditions.
Cables work under spring tension — we release tension safely before replacement.
Cables are common stock on our trucks, so most jobs finish in one visit.
Even a few loose strands mean a cable is close to failing under load — replacement cable gets sized to match your spring tension exactly.
A cable that's already snapped usually means the door dropped or hangs crooked — we stabilize it before beginning repair.
A cable that's slipped off its drum causes uneven hanging — alignment gets checked against the opposite side for balance.
Extension spring systems should run safety cables to prevent whip-back — it's a quick, affordable safety upgrade.
The bracket anchoring the cable to the door corrodes over time — this is a less obvious but equally important part of the system.

Visible fraying — loose strands sticking out — is the clearest sign.
We treat snapped cable calls with the same urgency as a broken spring.
The injury risk is similar to spring replacement.
Many older doors were installed without them — we can add them as a standalone upgrade.
We check cable condition as part of any service call, even unrelated ones.
